Buffalo Thunder Community Health Fair Sept. 15

BUFFALO THUNDER COMMUNITY HEALTH FAIR SEPTEMBER 15, 2009

Santa Fe, N.M. - In recognition of Buffalo Thunder Resort & Casino's one year anniversary, a free health fair open to everyone in the community will be offered by the Pueblo of Pojoaque. The health fair will be held in the Tewa Ballroom at Buffalo Thunder Tuesday, Sept. 15, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with medical professionals from both Christus St. Vincent's Hospital and United Blood Services.

Lab work will be performed at the Community Health Fair, including screenings for prostate, thyroid and diabetes, as well as bone scans and weight and cholesterol screenings. Vision, dental and mental health screenings also will be available at no charge. Educational programs will discuss personal safety issues, such as proper lifting, fire prevention and how to use a fire extinguisher. The Pojoaque Tribal Police will be on hand to discuss driving safety and neighborhood safety programs. Insurance providers will be there along with Medicare and Medicaid to answer questions in both English and Spanish.

SERVICES: Health Screenings: blood pressure, glucose and body mass; massage therapy screenings; derma scan; foot reflexology screenings; acupuncture; vision and dental screens; spinal alignments; mammograms. Lab work includes: prostate, thyroid, blood and diabetes tests; bone scans, weight and cholesterol screenings. Light refreshments will be served and prizes offered, including a Health Monster Kids DVD.
