BUFFALO THUNDER ANNOUNCES NEW GOLF SUPERINTENDENT

Santa Fe, N.M-Buffalo Thunder Resort & Casino has hired a new Golf Course Superintendent, David Smith, CGCS.  Smith comes to the Towa Golf Club at Buffalo Thunder from Florida, long famous for its excellent golf courses, where he spent 8 years as superintendent at Pelican Marsh Golf Club. Smith has more than 20 years working in the golfing industry.

"My main goal at Buffalo Thunder's Towa Golf Club is to create an outstanding playing experience for our golfers," says Smith.  "I'm very impressed by the staff at Towa. When you see them on the course at dawn, doing everything from irrigation, mowing and seeding to new plantings, you see the energy and passion our team brings to maintaining Towa Golf Club." The Towa staff is clad in red and khaki to make it easier for golfers to identify them as stewards of the course.

"David comes to us with high recommendations from Black Stone, which owns Hilton Corp. and has 27 luxury resorts with 5 star golf courses," says Fadel N. Nahle, PGA, Director of Golf, Towa Golf Club.  "We're happy to have David's expertise supervising our new course and our renovations.  Our customers are sure to enjoy an enhanced golfing experience this season."

While at Pelican Marsh, Smith implemented several innovative programs, including master plan renovations, hurricane preparedness and recovery, literacy training for Spanish-speaking crew members, and certification of Pelican Marsh as an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary. Smith has experience managing tournaments, too, including amateur and mid-amateur qualifiers and championships.

Towa Golf Club features 18 holes of premier golf designed by Hale Irwin and Bill Phillips.  Towa is truly a golfer's paradise complete with a full-service clubhouse, dining, bar and pro shop. The course is designed to be enjoyable and challenging to players of all skill levels.

Towa's views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains make it one of the most spectacular golf settings in the Southwest. Set in Georgia O'Keeffe country, the Towa Golf Club is characterized by turquoise skies, red rock cliffs and snow-peaked mountains.  When the setting sun turns the sky and the course every shade of the rainbow, golfers know they've found their pot of gold.
