CELEBRATE THE NEW YEAR WITH A GLANCE BACK IN TIME

SANTA FE, N.M.- If you've ever fantasized about the perfect New Year's Eve Party, Buffalo Thunder Resort & Casino has the event for you.  Reminiscent of glamorous prewar parties immortalized by Hollywood, Buffalo Thunder is presenting a dinner dance to the sweet sounds of Guy Lombardo's Royal Canadians with Al Pierson, replete with fine dining, flowing Champagne and party favors. The tradition of Guy Lombardo and his Royal Canadians playing at New York City's Waldorf Astoria is an intrinsic part of millions of people's New Year's Eve celebrations, whether they enjoyed the orchestra in person or via the famous radio broadcasts. Since the death of Lombardo in 1977, the playing of "Auld Lang Syne" at the stroke of midnight reminds many of this tradition.

Coming from a musical family, Guy Lombardo formed his first dance band with his brothers in 1916 in Ontario, which later evolved into Guy Lombardo's Royal Canadians.  Lombardo led the orchestra with great charm and camaraderie for sixty years. Besides their signature song "Auld Lang Syne," the most important ingredient of the Guy Lombardo Orchestra was its consistency in playing wonderful tunes like "Seems Like Old Times," "Boo Hoo," "Coquette," "Sweethearts on Parade" and "Ain't She Sweet," all written by Carmen Lombardo. With the blessings of the Lombardo family, the baton was literally passed to Al Pierson in 1989. Under the leadership of Pierson, the Royal Canadians continue to delight audiences, playing a mix of nostalgic tunes and modern arrangements.

"This event promises to be the most charming, most romantic and certainly the most nostalgic New Year's Eve celebration around," says Executive Director of Marketing, Buffalo Thunder Resort & Casino, David Oakeley.
