FOREIGNER AT BUFFALO THUNDER SEPT. 19

Santa Fe, N.M. - British-American rock band Foreigner performs at Buffalo Thunder  Resort & Casino, Sat. Sept. 19, 8 p.m. Foreigner has sold more than 50 million albums worldwide. The band is led by founding band member Mick Jones, originally from England, who in early 1976 met with ex-King Crimson member Ian McDonald in New York City and formed Foreigner with Lou Gramm, Dennis Elliott, Al Greenwood, and Ed Gagliardi.  Jones came up with the name from the fact that he, McDonald, and Elliott were British, while Gramm, Greenwood, and Gagliardi were Americans.

The band's current lineup features guitarist Jones as the lone remaining original member backed by Kelly Hansen on vocals, Jeff Pilson on bass, Thom Gimbel on rhythm guitar/sax, Michael Bluestein, keyboards, and drummer Brian Tichy. Foreigner forged its reputation on arena rock anthems and power ballads that remain staples of classic rock radio stations to this day.

The band's debut album, Foreigner, was released in 1977 and sold more than four million copies in the United States, staying in the Top 20 for a year with such hits as "Feels Like the First Time," "Cold as Ice" and "Long Long Way From Home." Their second album, Double Vision, sold five million records and spawned rock classics "Hot Blooded," the title track, and "Blue Morning Blue Day." Their third album, Head Games, was also successful due in part to the thunderous "Dirty White Boy" and another title track hit "Head Games." Foreigner's fourth album, 4, was released in 1981 and contains some of the band's biggest hits including "Urgent"(which features a Junior Walker sax solo), "Waiting for a Girl Like You," "Juke Box Hero" and "Break It Up."

Agent Provocateur, released in 1984, features their #1 hit "I Want to Know What Love Is," written by Mick Jones, a gospel-inspired ballad backed by the New Jersey Mass Choir. " Foreigner will release a three-disc set of new and classic material called Can't Slow Down  Sept.29,10 days after their performance at Buffalo Thunder. Foreigner collaborated on this album with Aerosmith producer/songwriter Marti Frederiksen as well as Jones' stepson, Grammy-winning producer Mark Ronson. Ronson has been a producer for Amy Winehouse and Lily Allen
