FRIENDS OF SANTA FE JAZZ PRESENT HOLLY HOFMANN/ MIKE WOFFORD QUARTET
Santa Fe, New Mexico-The Friends of Santa Fe Jazz present the Holly Hofmann/ Mike Wofford Quartet on Friday, April 11, 2008 at 8 p.m. Jazz flutist Holly Hofmann and her husband jazz pianist Mike Wofford began their collaboration in the late 1980s. Holly Hofmann has ten recordings as a leader to her credit, including Just Duet with long time co-performer, pianist Bill Cunliffe. She also recorded Live at Birdland with bassist Ray Brown and drummer Victor Lewis and toured with Ray Brown's group for several years.
In 2004, Hofmann recorded Minor Miracle and toured and recorded during that period with Flutology, a renowned all-star sextet with Frank Wess. She has worked with Slide Hampton, James Moody, Cedar Walton, John Clayton, Jeff Hamilton, Regina Carter and numerous others.
Mike Wofford is especially known as pianist and music director for Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan, and for his work with Chet Baker, Joe Pass, Benny Golson and Benny Carter. Wofford's resume is a who's who of jazz having collaborated on over 150 recordings.
In San Diego, Hofmann heads the Jazz in the Park Concert Series. Hofmann and Wofford are also affiliated with the Atheneum Music and Arts Library, recently releasing their recording Live at the Atheneum. Accompanying Hofmann and Wofford are New Mexico's own talented rhythm section stalwarts, Michael Olivola, bass; and John Trentacosta, drums.
The Friends of Santa Fe Jazz is a community group of jazz lovers who bring national jazz artists to perform in residential settings.
