MARIACHI CHRISTMAS AT BUFFALO THUNDER DECEMBER 19
SANTA FE, N.M.- Buffalo Thunder Resort and Casino will host a special holiday celebration, Friday, December 19, 2008, 8 p.m. Mariachi Christmas, with performances by Mariachi Tapatio and Ballet Folklórico Paso del Norte, will bring the magic, color and traditions of Mexico to Santa Fe.
These two companies will come together with song and dance, bringing musical gifts for holiday magic. The audience will experience the energy, passion and colors of Mexico.
Ballet Folklórico Paso del Norte, a dance troupe under the artistic direction of choreographer Rodolfo Hernandez, was founded in 1976 and is based in El Paso, Texas. The company has traveled extensively throughout the United States and Mexico, thrilling audiences at every stop. In 1992 they became the first American based group to be invited by the Mexican-North-American Institute of Cultural Relations to perform in Mexico City.
The second company, the award-winning Mariachi Tapatio, also from El Paso, will delight the audience with live mariachi music. Mariachi Tapatio, led by Amelia Garcia, was founded in 2006 by a group of friends that have been in the El Paso mariachi community for years. Mariachi Tapatio's gifted musicians range in ages from 13 to 34 and have come together to provide the public with a unique musical experience.
Mariachi Christmas will be narrated in English and will showcase the parade of colors of Chihuahua, Colima, Jalisco, Puebla and Veracruz, Mexico with seasonal selections of music and dance and is sure to be a festive and memorable experience for the audience.
