HOLIDAY CHEER: LIGHTING LEDOUX AT THE HARWOOD, DEC. 10, 5-7:30 p.m.
Taos, N.M.- Saturday, December 10, 5-7:30 p.m. marks the 15th December that families from northern New Mexico and visitors to Taos will gather downtown for an annual holiday tradition - the Lighting Ledoux.
The event kicks off at 5 p.m. with a parade down Ledoux Street led by the Taos Volunteer Fire Department's historic truck Maria. There is also a rumor that Father Winter will be hitching a ride on Maria, en route to the Harwood Museum where he will have a sack full of presents for all children. Ledoux, the oldest street in Taos, will be lined with farolitos and luminarias marking the beginning of the holiday season. The Town of Taos will close Ledoux Street for the all ages free block party.
"This is such a festive event that celebrates the real spirit and warmth of the holiday season as our community comes together for Lighting Ledoux," says Susan Longhenry, Director of the Harwood Museum of Art. "We invite all of you to Ledoux Street and the Harwood Museum of Art for this magical night complete with a parade, bonfires, music, food, and entertainment.This event always reminds me that celebrating the holidays with our friends and families is what matters most."
Museums, galleries, businesses and artist studios will be open with music, refreshments, entertainment and other surprises. Highlights include special one night prices at Andean Software, demonstrations at Shree Yoga, flamenco dancing at TurnStyle, pizza specials at Stella's Restaurant, traditional music and treats at Inger Jirby Gallery, a bonfire and hot drinks in the Blumenschein Courtyard, felting demonstrations at Taos Fiber Arts, discounts on Aveda products at Salon Marjorie and cookies at the Harwood Museum of Art. In addition, accomplished musician Audrey Davis will be playing the violin at the Blumenschein Museum Shop.
Wrapping up the evening at 7 p.m.,the Runway Vigilantes will perform a 1940s inspired fashion show at ReNeux Consignment. Designers and stylists include Tatyana Di Pavloff, Nina Silfverburg, Nigel Kee, Laine Ember, Wendy Willis Price, Paloma Navarette, Michael Simone Regnier, Sarah Norris, Diana Rogers, and Shawna Yambire. Special guest models include Johnny Long, John Bucelli and Suki Mierzewski.
